Explicar un riesgo
Presenta un riesgo con su probabilidad, su impacto y una medida para reducirlo.
La regla
There is a risk that + frase (o a risk of + -ing) presenta la posibilidad; If that happens, … describe el impacto; We can reduce it by + -ing añade la medida. Usa may, might o could para lo posible: un riesgo no es un hecho, así que evita will definitely.
Ejemplos
There’s a risk that the system will fail under peak load.Existe el riesgo de que el sistema falle con la carga máxima.There is a risk that + sujeto + verbo presenta la posibilidad.
If that happens, some customers won’t be able to pay online.Si ocurre, algunos clientes no podrán pagar en línea.If that happens… describe el impacto concreto.
We can reduce the risk by testing early.Podemos reducir el riesgo haciendo pruebas pronto.By + -ing explica cómo se reduce el riesgo.

Para decir cómo se hace algo se usa by + -ing; el gerundio solo calca el español «probando pronto».
💡 Riesgo de perder = risk of losing, nunca «risk to lose». Cómo lo evitas: by + -ing.
