There is y there are
Describe lo que hay en un lugar con there is y there are.
La regla
«Hay» se dice there is (there’s) con singular o incontable y there are con plural. En negativa: there isn’t / there aren’t; en pregunta: Is there…? / Are there…? No uses it has ni they have, y no lo confundas con they are, que describe algo ya mencionado.
Ejemplos

There are two supermarkets in my street.Hay dos supermercados en mi calle.Plural: there are.
Is there a cash machine near here?¿Hay un cajero por aquí cerca?En preguntas se invierte: Is there…? / Are there…?
Error típico
✗ There is two cafés nearby.

Two cafés es plural, así que necesita there are.
💡 «Hay» nunca es it has ni they have: di there is (singular) o there are (plural).
