Say, tell, speak y talk

Cuatro verbos para hablar; no son intercambiables.

La regla

Say se centra en las palabras dichas: “She said hello”. Tell suele llevar destinatario: “Tell me the truth”. Speak se usa para idiomas o situaciones formales: “I speak English”. Talk suele indicar conversación: “We talked for an hour”.

Ejemplos

She said hello.Dijo hola.Say destaca el contenido.
She told me the truth.Me dijo la verdad.Tell + persona + información.
Can we talk later?¿Podemos hablar luego?Talk indica conversación.

Error típico

✗ She said me the answer.

✓ She told me the answer.

Tell lleva directamente la persona; con say sería said the answer to me.

💡 Si dices explícitamente a quién, “tell me” es una opción frecuente.
