Describir un lugar
Describe un lugar en pocas frases: dónde está, qué hay y qué lo hace especial.
La regla
Empieza por la ubicación (next to the station, opposite the park, near the beach). Después presenta lo que hay con there is / there are o it has, y añade uno o dos detalles concretos. Un dato concreto (abre a las siete, tiene terraza) ayuda más que varios adjetivos vagos como nice o good.
Ejemplos
The café is next to the station.La cafetería está al lado de la estación.Empieza por la ubicación: next to siempre lleva to.
There are two big windows and a quiet terrace.Hay dos ventanas grandes y una terraza tranquila.There are + plural para presentar lo que hay.
It’s small, but the coffee is excellent and it opens at seven.Es pequeña, pero el café es excelente y abre a las siete.Detalles concretos en lugar de adjetivos vagos como nice.
Error típico
✗ The café is next the station.
✓ The café is next to the station.
Next to es una preposición de dos palabras: next to the station, next to my house.
